07/26/20 St. Matthew United Methodist Church of Weston, WV held their monthly community dinner on Saturday, July 25. Keeping the tradition alive with a revised drive-thru format, a total of 60 spaghetti dinners were served, up from 37 last month.
The uptick in dinners served could be contributed to the safety guidelines put into motion by our state (i.e., required masks which helps people feel more safe), or maybe it was just a nice weekend with favorable weather. Or, perhaps, it was a little bit of all of those factors.
Either way, serving 60 community dinners this month is a huge contribution to Lewis County residents. And, best of all, St. Matthew continues to find ways to spread the love, hope and faith of our Lord during these very trying times.
The delicious meal consisted of spaghetti, salad, bread, a drink and cookies, complete with a bag of parmesan cheese, which is essential, making this a wholesome and complete meal. And, the drive-thru service was fantastic!
A big thank you goes out to the concentrated efforts of Michael and Lee Anne Mick, Greg and Allison St. Clair, Bill Bennett and Ryanne Garrett that helped drive this very successful event. Without your help, care and love of our church and community, none of this would be possible. (We hope we didn’t leave anyone out, if we did we apologize and appreciate your efforts as well).
At this time, we would also like to thank everyone who has helped contribute specifically to the Community Dinner Fund. Without your support, offering this enlightening service to our county would not be possible.
We look forward to next month’s Community Dinner and believe it will also be a success. Stay tuned for more information in the weeks ahead.
