12/12/20. On Fri., Dec. 11, Governor Jim Justice announced during his briefing that active church-related COVID-19 cases related to outbreaks across the state of West Virginia totaled 131, down from 227 reported cases on Wednesday.
There are currently 17 active church-related COVID-19 outbreaks within 12 counties across the state, including Braxton, Cabell, Fayette, Harrison, Marion, Mineral, Mingo, Nicholas, Raleigh, Taylor, Webster and Wyoming counties.
In comparison, it was also reported that there are currently 112 active COVID-19 outbreaks in long-term care facilities in West Virginia, which is down from 116, which was reported on Wednesday.
While this is all very positive and things appear to moving in the right direction, these are still very alarming numbers. It is imperative that we all continue to follow the guidelines and not let our guard down so we can attempt to remain as safe and healthy as possible. And, with the holidays quickly approaching, one thing is for sure–the vaccine cannot get here fast enough.
God willing, we will all get through this. Here at St. Matthew UMC in Weston, our hearts and prayers are with those suffering throughout our community, state and the world.
We also ask that you please pray for the members of our own congregation that has contracted this awful disease. Prayer chains have been circulating periodically over the past few weeks and we appreciate everyone’s participation.
Pastor Jim Martin continues to lift up our prayers during his enlightening and spiritual Sunday Morning Worship Services that are hosted live from his Facebook Page, Pastor Jim Martin. Additionally, you can watch, at your convenience, all of the past sermons from the Sermons section on our website.
Bishop Sandra Steiner Ball’s message of hope continues to resonate with us all and gives us a sense of graceful peace that is sure to come. If you have not read her last inspiring article, you can click on this to link to check it out.
