Sunday’s In-Person Worship Service a Success – Now Moving to Two Services this Sunday

03/10/21. In-Person Worship Services at St. Matthew UMC in Weston are back. Last Sun., Mar. 7, St. Matthew held its first in-person service since last year, and it was a huge success.

Limited to 25 people per state guidelines, those interested in attending were able to reserve their seats by calling the church office the Thursday prior to the service. “The service went quite well,” stated Justin Roy, who has been managing the switchboard and camera equipment to help broadcast services online–something that St. Matthew will continue do along with conducting in-person services.

In light of the good news and state restrictions that were loosened on Fri., Mar. 5 per Governor Jim Justice, the church’s Re-Launch Team discussed a plan to host two in-person worship services, an early service and a regular service, via a Zoom meeting last night. The consensus was to move forward, with a few adjustments. Read on.

Beginning this Sun., Mar. 14, two services will be held–an Early Worship Service and the regular Sunday Morning Worship Service. The early service will begin at 9 a.m. and the regular service will begin at 10:30 a.m.

The 9 a.m. Early Worship Service will NOT be streamed online.

The 10:30 a.m. Sunday Morning Worship Service will be the one that is streamed online moving forward, moving from the previously scheduled time slot of 10:00 a.m.

The live stream can be viewed from Facebook on either Pastor Jim Martin’s page or the St. Matthew United Methodist Church page, and additionally, available here on our website along with past archived services.

While capacity has now increased to accommodate 31 total people per service, there are some things you need to be aware of.

You must reserve your seat. You can reserve your seat by calling the church office at 304-269-2428 between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. on the Thursday prior to the service you wish to attend.

Guidelines remain in place. While things are somewhat getting back to normal, safety guidelines will continue to be followed during all church activities. This means wearing masks, social distancing, temperature checks and previous guidelines that were established earlier by the Re-Launch Team. For more information on these particular guidelines, please consult the church office.

This particular Sunday, be sure to move your clocks forward for daylight saving time.

God bless you all and we look forward to worshipping with you in person or online.
