Project Healing Waters Ministry Announced

02/07/22.

A small group has been established that is tying fly fishing “flies.”   It is a time of fellowship and learning as most are learning how to tie flies.  But in Christian small groups, there should be a purpose and benefit that goes beyond the group.  As we learn to tie our fly fishing flies, our purpose will be to share these flies with an organization called Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing, Inc (PHWFF).  PHWFF began in 2005 serving wounded military service members at Walter Reed Medical Center returning from combat in Iraq and Afghanistan.  Since then, PHWFF has expanded nationwide, establishing its highly successful program in Department of Defense hospitals, Warrior Transition Units, and Veteran Affairs Medical Centers and clinics.

Our purpose and prayer is that what we produce as a group will be shared with those who volunteer taking disabled veterans fly fishing.  PHWFF has become recognized as an innovative leader and model in the field of therapeutic outdoor recreation for the disabled, through its successful application of the sport of fly fishing as a rehabilitation tool.

We meet on Wednesday evenings at 7 p.m. in Fellowship Hall of St. Matthew UMC in Weston, WV.  Come check us out!
